Is Dissent being Silenced—Not Just with Jobs, But with Retaliation

A follow-up to our last post.  It's no secret among members that jobs have been used to secure loyalty, but now it appears to go even further—are members being targeted and punished for refusing to stay silent?

One of the most critical roles on any job site is the shop steward, who represents workers, defends their rights, and ensures that workplace issues are addressed fairly. A strong steward means a strong membership. So why are there reports from members of stewards being removed under questionable circumstances?

Recently, when a member was seen on-site, someone allegedly tipped off the Business Agent, who swiftly arrived and stripped the shop steward of their position. What was the reason? Was it justified, or was it a warning to others? When stewards, our elected representatives, can be removed so suddenly, what does that say about the state of our union?

Meanwhile, members have raised concerns that certain individuals with ties to BCIB are benefiting from these questionable actions. If decisions are being made to serve personal interests rather than the best interests of all members, what does that mean for the future of our union? And more importantly, who will be next?

If action has been taken against you unjustly, we want you to know your Voice is being heard.

This is why we need change. This spring, Your Voice is Your Power.

Are you going to let them silence you? Take charge. Make a difference. Vote for Change. Vote for Your Future!

In solidarity,

The Voice of the Members
