Jan 26, 2025 - Union Meeting - Leadership Silence Raises Serious Questions

At the January 23rd, 2025 meeting, members demanded answers from Business Manager Nav Malhotra, yet no response came from him. Instead, President Mark Olsen repeatedly stepped in to speak on his behalf. This left many members questioning why the Business Manager—who was elected to represent them—chose to remain silent.

Is his lack of response connected to the ongoing lawsuit against our union, which includes very serious allegations involving both the Business Manager and the President? When asked who is covering the legal costs—whether it's the union, the international, or the Business Manager personally—members were met with vague responses. Mark Olsen stated that it was difficult to know at this time and it wouldn't be known until the lawsuit’s conclusion.

Why the lack of transparency? Is this really a difficult question for the Business Manager and President to answer?  Members are simply asking for clarity, yet instead of open dialogue, they are met with deflection and avoidance. Shouldn’t the membership be informed about matters that directly affect them and their union's resources?

During the meeting, one member, who reached out, did not hesitate to call for action, demanding that the Business Manager should recuse himself from union duties until the lawsuit is resolved. We want this member—and all members—to know that we, the Voice of the Members Slate, are listening. Concerns like this are being echoed by others, with many members reaching out, expressing frustration at the lack of clear answers from the current leadership.

With ongoing silence from the Business Manager and the President speaking on his behalf, members are left to wonder—who is truly leading our union? A lack of open communication and accountability creates uncertainty at a time when strong leadership is needed most.

This is why we need to elect the Voice of the Members Slate.  Leadership that will be transparent, accountable, and responsive to the membership—no more unanswered questions, no more silence, no more deflection.

This Spring, vote for the: Voice of the Members Slate.

Your Voice. Your Union. Your Future.
